My Podcasts
Podcasting is something I fell into accidentally about 3 years ago. I wasn't a trailblazer in the artform or even close, podcasts had already been around a couple of years by then. I like to think I've been doing it long enough now to know a few things though. For those who don't know, a podcast is a pre-produced peice of media delivered over the Internet via RSS feeds. It can contain audio or video and usually comes in episodic form. Listeners subscribe to download episodes automatically and listen on their media player or computer. Despite the name it has nothing to do with the iPod. It's true that these mp3 players are popular and because of that most people associate this new Internet media with the iPod. The name podcast has stuck and I don't particularly mind it. Please remember however: You don't need an iPod to enjoy podcasts!
Here's some information about the various shows I'm involved with.
Linux Outlaws is a podcast about Linux and free open source software. We are normal users like yourself rather than part of the in-crowd of community leaders and hardcore kernel hackers. On the show we talk about interesting news and developments, stuff that we come across in our daily usage of Linux, often with a serious attitude and a humorous angle. The podcast has been described as "very laid-back" by listeners and reviewers alike. We don't claim to be gurus or experts on anything really, but we're trying very hard to provide you with good entertainment and interesting information.

Rathole Radio is a fortnightly Internet radio show and podcast featuring music, interviews, reviews, laughs and even live performances. The aim is to introduce you to the best new music on the web, eclectic sounds you won't have heard before, whatever the style or genre. Boundries and pigeon holes are so pathetic, open your mind to new things. This is music made by artists who understand the net and treat their fans like people. What a novelty. So far I've interviewed artists such as MC Frontalot, I Am Not Lefthanded, Professor Kliq, David Rovics and Jono Bacon about their work. I also perform live acoustic tracks myself from time to time.

I am also very proud to work with the good folks at Free As In Freedom. I produce their bi-weekly show. Discussing the latest legal and political matters in FOSS, presented with style and humour by Bradley Kuhn and Karen Sandler. They make sense of the important issues affecting the Free Software world today. Check them out.
